Gatteo

The oldest Church of the town of Gatteo is San Rocco. It was built in about 1484 at the time of the outbreaks of the plague, between 1435-36 and between 1458-61, in honour of San Rocco who is the anti-plague saint. The structure of the Oratory, where the concert will be held, is very simple. It has only one wooden structured nave and very few openings from a little rose window on the entrance doorway and one other window. Originally there was yet another window and a side door (both now walled up) that led to the adjoining cemetery (which was later transferred to the outskirts of the town).
